Follow us to the Plains Conference!
About our logo: Tracing of rock art elements at The Narrows (3CW35) in the Arkansas River Valley of Crawford County, Arkansas. This panel shares characteristics with Plains rock art in the way it depicts the human form, with long, more-or-less rectangular bodies. The figures range from 25 to 36 cm in height. They were created by pecking with some abrasion. Black pigment was applied to the pecked-out areas. Several have spots of red pigment under the arms and between the legs. The full panel has been interpreted as a representation (among other possibilities) of a pre-Columbian version of a dance celebrating an Osage creation story (used with permission). NEW at this year's conference!
Ask questions about:
- Poster sessions will be held in a joint Poster Session/Exhibitor/Coffee Room. Posters will be displayed for a full half-day of four hours during which presenters will be required to be present for only a single hour during scheduled coffee breaks from 9:40-10:40 am and from 2:40-3:40 pm.
- Linked poster & oral symposia. Oral symposia may be linked with a concurrent poster symposium of the same topic, and vice-verse. Under this format, attendees of an oral symposium may go and view posters of the same topic, and meet with authors, during the scheduled hour-long coffee breaks midway through the sessions and viewers of posters may go to a symposium to learn more about its topic. Linked oral and poster symposia should be submitted as distinct requests using separate Symposium Abstract forms. Click on "Submissions" to learn more.
- Special registration fee for spouses/partners of members. We recognize that many spouses and partners of members who themselves are not members come to the conference to join in certain celebratory events. We offer a special discounted registration fee for these individuals that includes attendance of (1) Wednesday's Early Bird Party and Pre-Conference Tour (with payment of tour fee), (2) Thursday's Conference Reception, (3) Friday's Open Bar, Banquet (with purchase of Banquet ticket), and Distinguished Speaker's Presentation, (4) Saturday's Post Conference Tour (with payment of tour fee), and (5) attendance of the spouse or partner's session(s) if they are a presenter.
